The Power of Reviews

We all know just how important reviews are to the success of a book in the educational/library market—especially the coveted STARRED review! Do you want to learn more about how that happens?

EBMA members, please join us for a webinar about The Power of Reviews on December 15th at 12p EST with Melissa DeWild, Library Journal Editor and Shelley Diaz, School Library Journal Reviews Director. They will offer their expertise to share how titles are selected for review, the role and impact reviews have in the educational space, and how publishers can support this effort. They will also discuss industry trends and there will be time for a Q&A.

Speakers:

Melissa DeWild is the Reviews Director for Library Journal, where she manages the reviews editors and oversees the assigning and editing of book reviews and book-related features such as genre previews and Prepub Alert. Previously, she worked in collection development and administration at various public libraries, including Kent District Library in Michigan, and served as Director of BookOps, a technical services collaboration between New York Public Library and Brooklyn Public Library.

Shelley Diaz is School Library Journal’s reviews director. She has 20 years of experience in children’s publishing, from editing picture books and young adult novels to book scouting and copyediting. She has presented and moderated at writers and industry conferences on censorship, diversity, graphic novels, and more. She also worked as a collection development librarian at BookOps--the technical services collaboration between New York Public Library and Brooklyn Public Library.
