The purpose of the Texas Policy Initiative project is to fund government relations efforts in the state of Texas regarding Texas HB900 and SB13, and variations of these bills forthcoming. These bills would place an overly burdensome and expensive requirement on distributors to provide appropriateness levels of content bought by, and distributed to, public schools in Texas. The EBMA would like to make it known the impact this will have on costs to schools and the delivery of new and appropriate content to the market. Whilst there is an economic impact and concern over the general business interests of EBMA, that impact will be felt equally by the school divisions if the burden for this is placed on our members.
Project Financing
EBMA members may freely participate in sponsoring this initiative. The average amount of combined business represented by EBMA members in Texas is $116,000,000 per year.
No dues revenue or other association general revenue will be used for this initiative. It will only be funded through the willing sponsorship of members. So far member companies have sponsored the majority of the anticipated funds needed. Companies are encouraged to consider a sponsorship of this program which will be overseen by the EBMA Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Sponsorship Information
A suggested sponsorship is $1000 with a goal of raising enough funds to provide for the efforts in Texas. However, companies are not required or compelled to sponsor. Sponsorships are not donations, although the forms used may look like donation forms. These are business sponsorships for an initiative for the purpose of a common business interest.
A sponsor receipt and confirmation email will be sent to the person associated with the email. You may opt in to having your company recognized on this website. However, this is not required because some companies do not wish to have their business affairs known publicly.
Sponsorship may be done via credit card using this form below. If you prefer to pay by check or to receive an invoice for a specific amount please contact admin@edupaperback.org . The mailing address is: Educational Book and Media Association, PO Box 3363, Warrenton VA 20186
